Basic Firefighter or Essentials of Firefighting
Fire Behavior-Arson Awareness
Intermediate Firefighter or Initial Fire Attack

Firefighter Recruit Class I:

Completion of Recruit Class II Courses AND
Ladder Company
Pump Operator
Accident Victim Extrication (AVET)
HazMat First Responder Operations
Approval of the Fire Chief

Firefighter:

Completion of Recruit Class I and II Courses AND
Basic Wildland Fire Supression or Grass, Brush and Forest Firefighting
Rescue Technician-Basic or Rescue Operations
Incident Command System
Inspection of Existing Structures
Physical Ability Test
Standard First Aid or equivalent (E.g. CFR, EMT) and CPR
Approval of the Fire Chief

Fire Instructor I & II:

Basic Firefighter or Essentials of Firefighting
Intermediate Firefighter or Initial Fire Attack
Pump Operator or Ladder Company Operations
Introduction to Fire Officer or Preparing for Command
Fire Service Instructor I or Educational Methodology
Fire Service Instructor II (required for Level II only)
Approval of the Fire Chief

Fire Officer I (Lieutenant Level):

Fire Instructor I Courses AND
Fire Behavior and Arson Awareness or Intermediate Firefighter
Principles of Fire Investigation or Fire Cause & Origin Determination
HazMat First Responder Operations
Approval of the Fire Chief

Fire Officer II (Captain Level):

Fire Officer I Courses AND
40 Hours of College Level General Psychology
40 Hours of Report writing, Written Expression or course of similar content
Approval of the Fire Chief

Incident Safety Officer:

Incident Safety Officer
Principles of Building Construction: Combustible (3103) or Building Construction for Fire Suppression Forces: Principles of Wood Frame and Ordinary Construction,
Principles of Building Construction: Noncombustible or Building Construction for Fire Suppression Forces: Noncombustible and Fire Resistive Construction (3104)
